I never stay in peoples homes because imo that’s weird and clients who want that tend to be crazy obsessive over their pets. It can be a little competitive depending on where you live, and the type of pet care you are providing. It's an atmosphere where the people there pride themselves on supporting "diversity", but the truth is it's very much monocultural.

I’ve been with rover for almost 3 years and it’s the best job I’ve had I love working with animals and the work I do and the care I give them and the repeat clients and new friends in my work. I recommend starting your payrate low because of being new to the job but after a couple jobs you can raise it. Right now is not the greatest time to be a pet sitter.
