I have to say, reading three of these over a short period of time, I do find the plots unnecessarily complicated, and the author is particularly fascinated with unwanted pregnancies and subsequent offspring. Women and food: how they locked on to your heart, taking it so young that if you had ever been properly loved and nurtured, you could never quite untangle them again. I liked this book because it was an excellent mystery. The Slider/Joanna story continues; I do find it a bit rich Slider expressing a desire to see his children - I doubt he can even remember his daughter's name!
