What's scary is that what shown in Secret Obsession might be the least dangerous version, and the one with the closest thing to a happy ending. If "Obsession" had been even a little more subtle, had made even a little more sense on some boring logical plane, it wouldn't have worked at all.
Over the years, LaSalle has told her lies about Courtland, convincing her that her father had not paid the ransom because he did not love her. The acting was good, in my opinion.
