Connection: I feel so fortunate to have come across ‘Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox’ in the magical Adrienne Gear‘s ‘We Are All Connected’ workshop back in November. We are just wrapping up an inquiry about the inter-connectedness we have with animals. Have the children engage in some drama activities while wearing their masks. Our last art project was to create a 3D model of the animal using plasticine. We needed to actually study these animals to know if we really were like them and in what ways we were like them.

At this point I started looking for animal fables and folktales in the library, thinking they probably don’t know what characteristics these animals have (duh … these children show such brilliance and understanding in so many areas that I often take for granted that they know much more than they do). The children are so engaged and just love it, so I’ll probably ask them if they want to learn about their animal’s first year of life once we’re finished reading the story.
